Something to Know! A Need to Know Series.

Coming to the UAE? It is a wonderful journey and test to expand your own horizons. The country is a beautiful mixture of sand dues, beaches, and culture. The culture is a rich as the pearls in the ocean, but there are many misconceptions made about this country and unknown facts. Here in this series, here are some things to know before before coming to UAE.

Know the History

Just a little bit

The country is a small but proud of country of its heritage, leaders, and people. Just as any nation, it is protective of its nation and one must be accepting of the differences but embrace them and the commonalities.

Now when people think of the UAE it is most noticeably Dubai. The country is actually smaller countries united. Here is an excerpt from the wikipedia page:

“The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a country on the Arabian Peninsula located on the southeastern coast of the Persian Gulf and the northwestern coast of the Gulf of Oman. The UAE consists of seven emirates and was founded on 2 December 1971 as a federation. Six of the seven emirates (Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah) combined on that date. The seventh, Ras al Khaimah, joined the federation on 10 February 1972. The seven sheikdoms were formerly known as the Trucial States, in reference to the treaty relations established with the British in the 19th Century.”

For Americans, an Emirate is very similar say a state but a sheikdome pronounced

The Honorable and Great Leader Sheik Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and under his vision, the UAE was formed.
“shake-dom” is another word for kingdom. Under the leadership of the Great and Honorable Sheik Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the UAE was formed. Pardon the paraphrasing, but please investigate more about the history of this wonderful country. There is so much learn.

If the map is observed, there are 7 Emirates so when people think of Dubai, they are thinking of the city and not the Emirate. The 7 emirates have their names, but also the capitol cities share their names as well. When people think of Dubai, they are actually thinking of Dubai City, the capitol of the Emirate of Dubai. Many are familiar with the city and its most popular landmark, Al Burj Khalifa, with their appearances in many Hollywood movies such as the Fast and Furious and Mission Impossible movies. The most memorable scene is the one from “MI” when Tom Cruise scales the side the building to get the above room. At the moment it is not only the tallest building the world but a wonder to be hold when come from the subway to the Mall of Dubai. More on that in the Entertainment area.

Dubai: A fascinating city that has captured the minds and hearts of many. One of the many prides of the country. A visitor will see this picture a lot.
In conclusion for now, the Emirate people are proud of their heritage and history. Just as any other country man, respect the history that one comes from. Our history provides a base for launching ourselves into a better tomorrow. My apologies, I am in education. This is just a brief introduction to a few things that It is felt that it should be known before coming and learned after arrived. There will be an update soon with part 2 of this brief lesson in the UAE. Also, a podcast will be produced covering this topic.
