Terminator – Dark Fate Review Editorial Dark Fate, Bright Futre

An augmented human and Sarah Connor must stop an advanced liquid Terminator, from hunting down a young girl, whose fate is critical to the human race.

Best Things

There were some real gems in this movie. The terminator was my favorite. He was dangerous and would mow down anything and anyone that got in his way. Without spoiling the movie, the terminator did have a new trick that I absolutely loved. I love seeing a bitter Linda Hamilton. She was a great addition to the movie. The T101 model was funny. I love the augmented human storyline and purpose for going back into the past. The pacing of the movie is fun and never lets you feel left out. If you had a question, it would answer it for you. I do hope that there is more to come and Linda is a part of it.

Awful Things

Although the movie is a good solid movie, it is not without its flaws. My first issue is that it does treat its audience as if it does not pay attention. It is like an author who recaps major portions of the previous novel to fill in pages. If the movie presents a question visually, it gives the answer through massive amounts of exposition. Another issue, the reboot makes the first two movies obsolete. As a reboot sequel, I hoped it gave something different but instead of Skynet, it became legion. the terminators are a bit more advance which allows humans to be a bit more advance or augmented. The third issue is that it is not that inventive. It is the same storyline movie after movie after movie. It does have slight variations but the formula is the same. T1 was inventive and t2 was a worthy and magical follow up. Without going into fan fiction, it would have been nice to make it go on for a few years to have John Connor a teen/grown-up or whatever year it is in the movie to have met his demise. If you are going to take out the leader of the resistance with a tough mother, at least. go down fighting, but I understand the choices made. To close, the movie was a high school style research paper. It looked back at all the research, tried to rework it by taking some of the best parts and tried to make it sound original. It did a good job without citing the source material.

This may sound familiar: It is highly recommended. It is an action pack turn off your brain thrill ride. The story is simple and well written for audiences not paying attention. I know this sounds a bit negative because why watch a movie if you are not going to pay attention. A great thing about the movie that if you feel that you missed something it will explain it to you. For smarter viewers, this may be annoying. I enjoyed the movie but I do have my gripes. Check out my editorial/podcast for more information.
